Burnout, calidad del sueño y resiliencia entre estudiantes de fisioterapia de la Universidad de Taif: un estudio transversal

Este estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar la prevalencia del burnout, las alteraciones del sueño y la resiliencia entre los estudiantes de fisioterapia de la Universidad de Taif, así como examinar las interrelaciones entre estas variables. Se realizó un estudio transversal mediante una encuesta a 170 estudiantes de fisioterapia (edad media = 21,29±1,38 años; 58,8 % mujeres), utilizando las versiones árabes validadas del Maslach Burnout Inventory–Student Survey (MBI-SS), el Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) y la Brief Resilience Scale (BRS). La mayoría de los estudiantes (79,4 %) presentó una mala calidad del sueño (PSQI medio = 7,68±3,45), y el 32,4 % mostró bajos niveles de resiliencia. Se observaron niveles elevados de agotamiento emocional y despersonalización en el 43,5 % y el 24,7 % de los estudiantes, respectivamente, mientras que el 82,9 % presentó puntuaciones bajas en realización personal. Las estudiantes mujeres, los estudiantes de tercer año y aquellos con enfermedades crónicas presentaron niveles significativamente más altos de burnout y una peor calidad del sueño. La resiliencia fue notablemente menor entre las mujeres y los estudiantes con enfermedades crónicas. El burnout se correlacionó positivamente con la mala calidad del sueño (r=.449, p<.001) y negativamente con la resiliencia (r=–.320, p<.001), mientras que la resiliencia se asoció inversamente con la mala calidad del sueño (r=–.283, p<.001). El burnout y las alteraciones del sueño presentan una alta prevalencia entre los estudiantes de fisioterapia de la Universidad de Taif, y la resiliencia emerge como un factor protector. Estos hallazgos ponen de manifiesto la necesidad de intervenciones específicas, como programas de entrenamiento en resiliencia, manejo del estrés e higiene del sueño, con el fin de mejorar el bienestar de los estudiantes y su rendimiento académico.
