Correlación entre el dolor lumbar y la discapacidad entre estudiantes de fisioterapia en la Universidad Horus, Egipto: un estudio transversal

El dolor lumbar (LBP) es una de las principales causas de discapacidad y se ha asociado con diversos factores, incluyendo hábitos posturales, inactividad física y factores psicosociales entre estudiantes universitarios. La causa exacta del LBP a menudo es difícil de determinar, siendo el desequilibrio de la actividad y los cambios posturales contribuyentes comunes. Los estudiantes de áreas relacionadas con la salud son particularmente susceptibles al LBP. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo investigar la correlación entre el dolor lumbar y la discapacidad entre estudiantes de fisioterapia de la Universidad Horus, Egipto. Un total de 200 estudiantes de fisioterapia (59% mujeres y 41% hombres), con edades entre 20 y 25 años, participaron en el estudio en la Universidad Horus, Egipto. Para medir el dolor y el nivel funcional se utilizaron el Cuestionario de Detección de LBP Agudo (ALBPSQ) y el Cuestionario de Discapacidad por Dolor Lumbar de Oswestry (ODI). El estudio actual reveló que existía una correlación moderada entre la puntuación del ALBPSQ y la puntuación del ODI (p < 0.05). Asimismo, se observó una correlación moderada entre la intensidad del dolor, medida mediante la Escala Visual Analógica (VAS), y el nivel de disfunción según el ODI (p < 0.05). Los hallazgos destacan la relación entre la intensidad del dolor y el deterioro funcional en estudiantes de fisioterapia con LBP. Las universidades e instituciones sanitarias podrían considerar la implementación de políticas que promuevan una mejor postura, actividad física regular y prácticas ergonómicas para reducir la incidencia de LBP entre los estudiantes.
